Pool parties are well-known for swimming pools, but you could imagine an exotic locale for your atmosphere and the buffet. Set out a fruit platter fill with the following exotic fruits: pineapple, cantaloupe, oranges, strawberries, lemon, banana, coconut and more. A dish of candied dates can be quite tasty if done right for the kids Pool party. You can also serve the kids some shrimp on the Barbie or other kinds of grilled seafood following the watery theme of your event. Dessert can be a refreshing tropical smoothie for the kids and an alcoholic smoothie for the adults.

A Pool Party Shrimp on the Barbie

For this seafood dish from down under you'll need the following items: 1/2 cup melted butter, 1/4 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley, thyme, cilantro, 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 3 crushed garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon minced shallots, Salt and pepper, 1 1/2 pounds medium-large unpeeled shrimp, Spinach leaves, and Lemon slices

Combine the first 8 ingredients from the list in a bowl and mix in the shrimp. Let the mixture marinate at room temperature for 1 hour. Stir occasionally.

Set up bbq with medium hot coals. Thread the shrimp on wooden or metal skewer. Place on grill and cook until they just begin to turn opaque. This will be about 2 minutes on each side.
Set up a platter with spinach. Lay the skewered and cooked shrimp on the platter. Garnish with lemon slices and serve.
