Above Ground Swimming Pool Heaters - Which is Best?

Do you own an above ground pool and you want to get your water to a great swimming temperature? Are you interested in extending your swimming season? There are a few options you can use to heat your pool water, but there really is only one choice for above ground swimming pool heaters. Here are the options and which one is right for you.

First, there is an electric pool heater, which is great if you like to spend money to get things fixed and you want your electric bill to become much higher. This heater is best for night use because it does work very well, but it will cost you an arm and a leg if you run it all the time. If you decide to use this heater, then put it on a timer to run for about 4 to 6 hours a night.

Second, the gas pool heater, which will drain you even faster. This one will drive up your gas bill if you use it frequently. This heater was actually designed for those that do not use their pool very often and need to heat it rather fast. It is capable of heating your pool within a couple of hours, but is very expensive if you run it on a regular basis. This one is for vacation homes and such.

Last, the solar pool heater, which is the only choice for above ground swimming pool heaters because it is economical and does a great job. You can set this one on a timer so that it is only running when the sun is up and shining on it. Just remember to completely shut it off on days that the sun does not come out at all. This will get you to about the mid 80s and will heat your pool initially over about a day or two, but after that will maintain the temperature very well.
