Does the pool add value to my home?

So either you already own a home or are thinking of buying a home. Deciding if you should buy a home with a pool or building your own is a decision that may or may not be one you are considering. A home that already has a pool is convenient and less expensive as the cost in building a pool is higher than the value it brings when selling your home. So consider this option before you buy.

Putting a Pool in an Existing Home

So you own your home and you have decided to put in a pool and you just don't know where to begin. Check out all your options before you make a decision because you have many different options.

You can hire a pool company to design and build your pool. They will do everything from coming out to your home and giving you plenty of ideas in placing and designing your pool to fit in your backyard and using some of the existing landscaping. This is the most convenient way to build a pool and you should get several estimates before you choose. Also be sure you check out the reputation of the company you are considering and see if they have any outstanding complaints with the Registrar of Contractors. Hiring a full service pool company will also be the most expensive way of attaining a swimming pool. What other options do you have?

Build your Own Pool

This sounds so much more complicated than it really has to be. You can act as your own contractor and get designs, bids from sub contractors for every step in building a pool from the dig, rebar, concrete, tile work, decking and so on.

A simpler way to do a "build your own pool" with most of the savings is by hiring a contractor to oversee the project. The person you hire should be able to coordinate everything from getting your blueprints and designs to pricing and scheduling each step.
By doing it yourself or hiring someone to coordinate the process can literally save you thousands of dollars. Where do the savings come from? A brand name pool builder will use some of the same sub contractors as you would in building it yourself. They use their name and fancy showrooms to create a beautiful pool and of course need to make money themselves, thus, creating a "middle man" that needs to make their cut of your money.

Don't get me wrong, many people hire these companies for the security of the name standing behind the product and taking on the worries if something should need repair or break while under warranty. You need to only make one phone call and if the company is still in business you should see results all under their name. You should have the same warranties for each of the sub-contractors you hired to do it yourself but would have to contact them yourselves.

Either way, enjoy a beautiful pool with many different shapes, sizes, water features, size, color and tons of other options! Splash, enjoy the Arizona Sun in your new pool.
