Free Heat For That Summer Swim

The swimming season is just about here although the very cold winter weather does show signs of returning every so often and with the opening of the swimming pool the question of heating the pool is ever present. There are a number of new heating systems on the market which can either be installed into the present swimming pool or into a pool yet to be bought and installed and it is worth looking around to see the different systems and to see which system may be best in terms of doing the job, the purchase price of the unit and the running costs of the unit.

One of the systems that is becoming increasingly popular is the solar heating unit and there are several different designs. The cost of these solar units is relatively cheap and the expense of installation is also relatively small and if installed correctly the heating costs should then be zero. One advantage of heating using solar heating units is that people are already used to a slow heating system as it usually takes a long time to heat a full pool then in the case of the solar units the heating is also slow but once they pools are up to temperature the solar heating should be able to maintain the temperature quite well.

The solar pod is one of the latest systems and basically consists of a coiled water tube, which absorbs heat from the air around and the infra-red rays. The pipes are contained in a clear dome, which produces a greenhouse effect, which will heat the water. The usual guide to these units is that one until will heat around 4,500 litres of water and maintain the temperature. This is ideal for many of the above ground pools and for other larger pools or in the ground pools then it may be necessary to add a number of other solar units and they can be ganged together. These units are made with a polypropylene tube inside a polycarbonate dome and fitted in series for two pods and in series for three or more pods. There may be the need for a stronger pump as the pump runs will be decided on where the solar pods are situated and may be longer than normally experienced.

Whether the usage is solar pods or solar panels the use of free heat for the swimming pool is very attractive.
