How Many Calories Does Swimming Burn Off? How to Fat Burn in the Pool

When I am swimming laps hard and fast, I like to call this the fat burn. I have had fun and good results with it, so I am going to tell you how to fat burn in the pool. And your question might be how many calories does swimming burn off anyway? I will answer this along the way, so hang on.

If you are overweight and maybe somewhat depressed about it, why not take some action instead of looking for the easy solution? How many times have you tried to do this the "easy" way? How has it worked out for you? Well, you are reading this so probably not so hot. I hear you. I've been there. Not any more for me. And you can get over it too if you get some attitude and do the following steps:

  1. Count all calories in and out. Either keep track on paper (pain in the butt) or get a software program that does this for you (better option). You need to burn 3,500 more calories than you take in to burn one ugly pound of fat.
  2. Learn what foods you should eat and when for maximum increase in metabolism. This won't be possible until you do step 1 above so get busy.
  3. Eat 5 times per day and no eating anything outside of those meals. Eat smart calories but not less, do not deprive yourself or you will not have energy and you will lose muscle.
  4. Go to the pool and swim laps 3 times per week. Swim as hard as you can for at least 30 minutes but make it 1 hour once you get the hang of it. If you can get good at this you will burn over 700 calories per hour doing it! And swimming is a great cardio work out that will boost your metabolism that will keep working even after you get out of the pool.
  5. Walk 15 minutes per day. Everyone can fit in 15 minutes so just do it.
  6. Aerobic exercise 3 times per week (not on swimming days).
  7. Drink lots and lots of water! But don't drink the chlorine, that's no good.

For me to do all the above, I had to get organized! This was harder than the getting motivated part. Luckily a friend recommended this software program that tailors an exercise and diet plan to your specifics and then tells you exactly what to do every day so there is no guessing and no hard work doing the planning and organizing. It's cheap too but don't let that fool you.
