Inground Pool Cleaning Guide

by Pool Builders on 05-22-2008 in Articles

There are essentially two types of swimming pool, an "above ground pool" and an "inground" pool. This is an important distinction to be aware of when it comes to pool cleaning, as the latter is normally more costly and more difficult to clean.

The reason that inground pools are more expensive to keep clean is due mainly to their more complex design. These kinds of pools are often landscaped and feature complex pool shapes. As result an increased amount of debris finds its way into the water from the landscaped features. This in turn is more difficult to remove due to the fact that inground pool shapes often feature tight corners.

When it comes to cleaning your inground pool, it is essential that you make the right choice. Neglecting this aspect of owning a swimming pool can have severe consequences, as I am sure you are aware! But just in case you need a reminder, an unclean pool can make those who swim in it very sick!

So, with all of the above in mind, what are your choices with respect to cleaning an inground swimming pool? Well, in actual fact, you have three options which I have listed these out for you below.

(1) Manually powered pool cleaners

Imagine using your house vacuum cleaner on your swimming pool and you will get a good idea of these pool cleaners work. They have a bag which collects the pool debris similar to your house vacuum cleaner as well. The advantage of using a manually powered pool cleaner is that you can direct it into any of those awkward corners that your inground pool might have.

(2) Automatic pool cleaners

These swimming pool cleaners work on a similar principle to the manually powered version, except they work on mains electricity and they do the job much faster and more scrupulously.

(3) Robotic pool cleaners

If you buy one of these pool cleaners you get what you would expect from the description, an intelligent, robotic cleaner. They are the most expensive option, however, if you are really serious about protecting your investment then they are easy the best choice.
