Mermaids on the Prowl

Cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages can be used to help take you and your loved ones to places where mermaids can be viewed. Don't believe anyone who says that mermaids are only make-believe.

The following are some of the places where mermaids can be found making big splashes:

€ The Sip'n Dip Lounge in Great Falls, Montana sports mermaids who swim in a 21,000 gallon swimming pool behind the bar. Locals and tourists are drawn to check out the entertainment. Celebrities, including €Splash€ mermaid Daryl Hannah have visited.

€ The Downtown Aquarium in Denver, Colorado offers €Mystic Mermaids€ who perform daily in a family friendly show at the aquarium's €Under the Sea€ exhibit and in a tank adjoining its restaurant.

€ The Dive Bar in Sacramento, California puts on performances by mermaids and mermen who mingle with fish inside a 7,500 gallon tank. The bar is open seven days a week until 2 a.m.

€ The Wreck Bar in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is located in the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Hotel and appeals to guests with its shipwreck theme and underwater mermaid show. The MeduSirena Underwater Swimshow at the bar employs five trained aquatic mermaids and four apprentices who entertain crowds on Fridays and Saturdays. 30 minute performances take place in the hotel's chlorinated pool which features several portholes with views into the lounge underneath.

€ The Silverton Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada is home to a 117,000 gallon saltwater aquarium where five mermaids share space with over 4,000 tropical fish. The mermaid show is free of charge and is the only one in Las Vegas. They swim Thursdays through Sundays.

Not All Airline Perks have Vanished

Even when you fly via cheap airplane tickets or cheap vacation packages, certain airline perks remain available depending on which airline you fly.

Select airlines have refused to join the airline fee frenzy and are offering better customer service, fewer extra charges, and even more creature comforts than most of their competition for free.

The following are free perks still being offered by some airlines:

€ Air Canada, Alaska, Emirates, Lufthansa, Virgin America and Virgin Atlantic do not charge coach class passengers to watch videos while in the air. Air Canada has recently expanded its movie offerings, doubling the number of on demand available movies on both international and domestic flights.

€ JetBlue allows every passenger to check one bag free on each flight.

€ JetBlue will start offering free Wi-Fi on flights in 2013. To ensure speedy page load time it has partnered with a company that provides satellite broadband services. Norwegian offers complimentary Wi-Fi on most of its planes.

€ Air France, Alaska (only on flights operated by Horizon Air and SkyWest), British Airways, Hawaiian, Porter, and Virgin Atlantic give coach class passengers free alcoholic beverages. Air France even offers complimentary Champagne on long distance international flights.

€ JetBlue offers free live TV, steaming 36 channels of DirecTV, including CNN, Food Network, History Channel, Lifetime, and The Weather Channel on all of its flights. Virgin America also offers free live satellite TV via its Red entertainment program.

€ Delta, Hawaiian, JetBlue and Vision offer free snacks.

€ Air Berlin, Air Canada, and Hawaiian offer free blankets in cabins.
