If you are looking for some swimming drills for triathletes, most of what you find will be the same as those for racing in the pool. If you are trying to gain speed, endurance or improve your overall efficiency, you have some tried and proven methods to use.

Improving on your overall efficiency will conserve energy and get you from point A to point B a little quicker. The things you need to work on are your arm stroke, body position and kick. Learning the correct way to swim and doing drills to fine tune each of these three components will make it all second nature to you.

If you want to swim faster you must train fast. Sprinters on the track train by doing fast intervals of different distances. The same holds true for swimmers, spend some time doing interval drills where you sprint the length of the pool and up to longer distances. You can work intervals into your daily workouts or dedicate one day a week to this.

As far as gaining endurance goes, when you start to do intervals you will see an improvement in your fitness level and strength. You can also try swimming for a longer distance than is normal for you, just as in running, when you go for a longer distance one day a week. What is the distance of the swim in your upcoming race? Try for that distance at least once to get used to it.

If you are not sure about how to go about all of this, try finding a swim club near you. Being around other swimmers can help push you to make improvements to your swimming. A lot of written information is available online and in books that is of great benefit to swimmers as well.
