With swimming pools comes great responsibility. If you want a swimming pool in your backyard you should also look into the many swimming pool alarms on the market. Remember safety should always be priority one, but there are also other reasons to get an alarm.

Reason 1: Required by Law

Many local and state governments require that any swimming pool has to have an alarm system. Initially most states only required a fence but as children are becoming bolder and because many accidents can still occur around swimming pools, having an alarm is starting to be a necessity with a swimming pool. You should know what your state and/or local government requires for safety in regards to swimming pools.

Reason 2: Safety Tool

The main reason many states are requiring alarms is because it is most certainly a safety tool for your pools. The purpose the alarm serves is to warn if unusual activity occurs in or around your pool. For example, if the alarm is set and someone falls in, the alarm is going to sound to let you know. You may not have even realized someone was in your backyard playing around your pool. The alarm goes off no matter if it's a child, adult or even a dog.

When buying an alarm you should know how quick the response time is because some can take up to twenty seconds while others will sound immediately.

Reason 3: Your Liability

Even if you don't have children at home anymore there are likely children in your neighborhood. While you may think they aren't going to get in your swimming pool you never know. It's better to be safe with a pool alarm set up than to find a devastating scene the next time you go to your swimming pool.

Reason 4: Easier to Install

Fences take a lot of time, money and effort in order to install. An alarm system is a lot easier to install and takes less time and money. If you aren't going to install a fence, you should at least take the time to install an alarm system. Almost all alarm systems can be installed by you instead of by a professional. Read the manual and you'll have an alarm system up and running in no time.

Reason 5: Many options

You aren't limited on who you buy your alarm system from. It's easy to do online searches or visit retail stores to find the perfect alarm system for you and your neighborhood.

Having an alarm system for your swimming pool is one of the greatest plans you could have. Make sure you test out your purchase before feeling safe enough to let others wander around your backyard/swimming pool. You're still going to have to watch your pool, but having an alarm system will help you a little in that task.
