First you should always be sure to shower before getting into a pool. A problem that some people have with pool water is that outside germs and stains can get into the water. By showering you will be able to be cleaned off so that you can properly get into a pool without inconveniencing anyone. You will also be able to feel more comfortable in the pool because you will feel more used to the water. Don't forget to shower after getting out so you can wash the chlorine off your body.

It is also important to do be polite when in the pool. You should be sure that you are properly sharing the pool with other users. While you may want to swim it will be important to respect those who are going to be swimming along with you.

If you are going to be using the same lane as another person for swimming you should split the lane with that person. This means you will take one lap and the person in that lane will take the second lap. After that second lap you will go on another lap and so on.

There are some things you should not do in a pool. You should watch for the lane you are getting in and not try to go lap swimming in a lane not intended for it. You should not be inconveniencing others who are in a swimming pool for other reasons.

You should not try to pass slower swimmers in the same lane. After all, the person in front of you that you want to pass will not just stop for you. Instead you should tap the swimmer's foot when getting towards the wall where you will pass that swimmer. This is a much better reminder.

You should not practice diving in a lane where people are swimming either. You can do your practices if it is in a lane where no one else is swimming or if the people in that lane are all practicing on their diving skills.

All of these do's and don'ts are important to use for a swimming pool. By following them you can enjoy your time at a pool without inconveniencing yourself or others.
