In the heat of summer is there anything better than heading out to the water and just lounging there? Not really, it really is one of the best ways to beat the heat. Sure there is the struggle to maintain your own personal oasis, but it's a struggle to maintain a clean, healthy home. Not only are these personal oasis a great way to relax they can also help bring your home up in value. They take a lot of time and care but there are many benefits to having your own pool.

Pools are a great selling point. Everyone loves the idea of having one of these in the back yard. While it might seem like a concrete eyesore to a handful of people, they actually can increase the market value greatly. In an economy where home values seem to be going down instead of up, finding something that will almost always boost your home's value is an added plus. There are lots of people out there that have this one little feature at the top of their list when they are home shopping. By itself that might not be enough of a reason, but it sure is a good one.

Exercise is made easier. If you are a swimmer then you know that a pool will use most of your muscles. Unlike doing five million stair steps, or running hundreds of miles, you'll get an almost full body work out just going back and forth in the water. Even if you're not swimming, just horsing around in the water will burn a lot of calories. The water adds a resistance that most of us notice but seldom think about. Instead of getting all hot and sweaty during your work out, you'll emerge cool and refreshed. Sure you'll be a little tired, but it'll feel so good.

Pools have so many selling points but let's face it when we think of one of these nice features we're not thinking about market value or exercise we're thinking of that 110 degree heat. One of these nice little places can offer you and your family a wonderful retreat out of the blistering heat. Sure the water will be warmer, more like a warm bath, but it will still feel cooler than the air temperature around you. There are some precautions of course, you should always wear sun screen and avoid getting in the water during the heat of the day.

There are many benefits to owning a pool. Sure you'll have to work at it to keep it clean and maintain it but the benefits normally outweigh the hassles. They can be expensive if you are getting ready to install one in your back yard, but you'll be able to recoup most if not all that cost when you get ready to sell your home.
