Having a swimming pool in the home can be quite fun and entertaining. Clearly, it will be a waste to enjoy alone. A lot of pool owners tend to entertain a lot - entertain as in invite tons of people over. This is a great way to boast one's pool and to catch up on friends and family. With that said, how do a pool owner prep his or her pool to be always ready for guests?

Here's how:

Guests would not even try to set foot on any swimming pool that is gridy and icky. Nope! Get the pool clean even before phoning any family member or friends. This is the easiest way to do it:

1. Do not skip the daily pool cleaning routine. Here's the breakdown:

a. Pick up leaves and other debris floating on the water.

b. Scoop out all debris suspended on the pool floor.

c. Scrub the pool's walls and surface with a hard bristled brush to get rid of any algae build up.

d. Vacuum the pool 8 hours in the day and 8 hours in the night.

e. Power up the filter 16 hours a day.

2. Balance off the pool's chemicals. These are the chemicals and the levels that you need to watch out for:

a. pH

Where it needs to be: 7.2 to 7.8

b. Chlorine

Where it needs to be: 1.0 to 2.0 ppm

c. Total Alkalinity

Where it needs to be: 80 - 120 ppm

d. Calcium Hardness

Where it needs to be: for small sized pools: 180 to 220 ppm big sized pools: 200 to 400 ppm

e. Cyanuric Acid

Where it needs to be: 40 to 80 ppm

f. Total Dissolved Solids: below 5000 ppm

Top tips:

1. Use water test strips everyday to help you determine where your pool chemicals stand.

2. If having difficulty reading the water test strip results, use a digital water test strip.

3. If the levels are out of place, adjust them immediately either by adding in the chemical or taking some of the water out.
